Over the past week, there’s been a lot of conversation, speculation, and confusion about Teacher Pay and Benefits, in Wilson County.  While the Tennessee Education Association collects this data annually for comparison purposes, the most recent data available on their website is now approaching two years old.  This can be deceiving for some districts, like ours, which have seen substantial pay increases over the past three years.

For that reason, we have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions and answers, to help clarify some of the inaccurate information that’s been circulating since last week’s school board meeting.  It’s important for taxpayers to have a clear understanding of where our district has been, where we are, and where we’re headed in the future.

Additionally, we would like to thank our teachers for the mountains they’ve moved in recent years on behalf of students.  ACT scores have never been higher.  Our reading and literacy programs have never been stronger, and the strides our teachers have made to integrate technology into the classroom has been nothing short of amazing!  We’re are being asked to train other teachers around the country on a regular basis.

Quite simply… teachers are the backbone of every school system.  These raises they’ve received are well deserved, and we will continue to look for opportunities to continue on this course that’s been set.

Attached, you will find a list of “Frequently Asked Questions, which will be posted on our website.  This list will grow and be updated, as needed.
